Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith—lecturer, artist, and poet— based in Yorkshire UK, works across Drawing, Photography and Writing to produce artist books. Her hybrid practice flies through existing texts, using association, error, and distraction to explore how sense might be sought, rejected, and re-fused. Her interests lie in visualising embodied experiences of reading and writing to produce objects and experiences that defy the logic of sense. She embraces a meandering lostness, materialising routes through texts as a neurodiverse and queer reader. She co-edits Intergraphia books with Emma Bolland. Her work has been published internationally and included in various anthologies and online journals. Recent artist books include: stopping. Or made as part of the ‘Intervals' AMBruno project, collected in the Tate Library, London; Breath:e St(utter)ance published by Timglaset, Sweden
